Knowing Jesus as Your Healer
Jesus not only wants you to know Him as your Lord and Savior, but He wants to be your healer as well. God’s plan does not and has never included sickness and disease. God’s desire is for you to live long and strong. Psalms 91 says: “with long life I will satisfy him”.
Where Does Sickness Come From?
If sickness is not from God, where does it come from? God gave Adam dominion in the earth in the beginning. When Adam & Eve disobeyed God, that sin brought with it, sickness and death. The Bible says the one you obey is lord over you (Rom. 6:16). Adam stepped out from under God’s rulership under satan’s, thus handing over to satan dominion and rulership of the earth. All of mankind was born with a sin nature because they were born from Adam, this is why we must be born again, so we can receive God’s nature (John 3:3,6). God so loved the world He sent His Son to pay the price for our sin, the price we are unable to pay (John 3:16). Jesus came and died on a cross to pay the price for our sin (Eph. 2:9, Rom. 5:8). Jesus is our redeemer, He redeemed us from satan (Gal. 3:13). He defeated satan legally and so satan has no right to those that belong to God through Jesus Christ (John 1:12). What does this mean? Sickness and disease are a part of this current world we live in, however it legally has no rights to those that belong to God. WE DO NOT DENY SICKNESS EXISTS WE DENY ITS RIGHT TO EXIST IN US. Satan is referred to as a deceiver, and a thief; his agenda is to steal, kill and to destroy. Jesus said: “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 8:44, John 10:10) Along with the payment that Jesus paid for our sins, He also took stripes on His back for our healing. 1 Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. If you have received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, healing belongs to you (Mark 16:18).
Steps For Healing
Just like Jesus needs to be received as your Lord and Savior, He needs to be received as your Healer. Healing needs to be received. Everything we receive from God is received by Faith (Mark 10:52, Heb. 11:11, Luke 18:42, 1 John 5:4). The Faith that God speaks of is Faith in Him. Faith is trust and confidence in His love for you and what He tells you in His Word is true (Mark 11:22). Our faith takes from the unseen and brings it to the seen realm (Mark 11:23-24, Romans 4:17, Colossians 1:16). It is not enough to acknowledge it with your head as in head knowledge, but it must be real in your heart. As you meditate on God’s Word and spend time with Him, His Word will become more real to you and work its way from head knowledge to heart knowledge. A knowing that what God says is true and you will not be denied the price Jesus paid for your healing. Just as if you were holding a winning lottery ticket, you would not be denied your winnings
Step Two – Speak to sickness and command it to go in the NAME OF JESUS. Be specific, if it is arthritis, cancer, heart disease, etc. call it by its name and tell it to go. Speak to pain and inflammation as well. God created us in His image. God spoke the world into existence through His Son, Jesus (Colossians 1:15-17). God created you as a speaking being. Your words release power. God tells us in Proverbs 18:21 that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue”. This is why when we receive Jesus it requires us to confess with our mouth (Rom. 10:9-10). Matthew 12:37 tells us that: “By our words we are justified, and by our words we shall be condemned.” WORDS ARE POWERFUL. If you belong to Jesus you have the right to use His name. He defeated the devil which included sickness (John 16:33, Colossians 1:14). You are deputized to use that name against every evil thing that would try to come against you (Matthew 16:19, Luke 9:1, Luke 10:1,17,19).
SPEAK TO SICKNESS, THEN THANK GOD FOR HIS HEALING POWER WORKING IN YOUR BODY.
The Bible tells us that God’s Word (the Bible) is truth (John 17:17). In Romans 10:17 it tells us that: “Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.” Not just having heard it once, but continually hearing. Protect what comes into your ears and eyes as it produces a harvest. It could be a harvest of fear, or unbelief, depending on what you are receiving. Learn to FEED YOUR FAITH and STARVE YOUR DOUBT. God’s Word must become real to you. This requires spending time in His Word, pondering it, meditating on it, allowing the Holy Spirit (God’s Spirit) to speak to you and reveal it as truth to you. This allows it to move from your head to your heart (a knowing). ONCE IT HAS MADE THIS IMPORTANT TRANSITION, IT NEEDS TO BE RELEASED. We release our faith by speaking out what we believe. We choose to believe what God has told us we can believe Him for. Speak His Word (Isaiah 43:26, Hebrews 10:23).
Find the scriptures that speak of His promise Of HEALING, Personalize, speak and confess those over your body and your situation.
Example: Thank you Jesus that by your stripes I was healed. Sickness has no right in my body. I command it to go in Jesus name and I thank you that your healing power is working in my body right now (1 Peter 2:24).
DON’T STOP RELEASING YOUR FAITH
Don’t give up; it’s progressive. Satan (the devil) will want you to believe it is not working so you will stop taking God’s Medicine. Speaking His Word is not just releasing your faith, but it is taking God’s Medicine (Prov. 4:20-22). It’s okay to take medicine from a medical doctor, but remember they can only treat sickness and symptoms; Jesus is the Healer. Start small and build your faith. Speak to that headache, or sore throat. The devil tries to put symptoms on us to see if we will accept them. How do we accept sickness? By our words, by speaking the sickness instead of the healing i.e. telling your friend you have a sore throat, instead of telling the sickness to go. Take the doctors medicine and God’s Medicine. Double up on God’s medicine (His Word) while taking the other. Before long you will no longer need the world’s medicine. As you receive your healing, be aware that satan will often challenge you with a counter attack. Many people lose the battle on the 2nd attack because they don’t continue to take God’s medicine while resisting and speaking against symptoms. Don’t be cheated, resist the devil and he will flee (James 4:7). If you feel you brought sickness on yourself (smoking, drinking, wrong living), don’t be deceived into thinking that God is not able or willing to see you receive your healing. No matter the cause of an illness it is ALWAYS GOD’S WILL FOR YOU TO BE WELL. As a matter of fact, He already BOUGHT AND PAID for it for you, so believe and receive.

Healing (physical, emotional, or mental) begins with a relationship with God and that is obtained through His Son, Jesus. It is not enough just to believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He paid the price for our sins and healing, it is a matter of believing and receiving (John 1:12, Rom. 10:9-10).
Walk In Wisdom & Healing
We are a spirit-being with spiritual laws to govern us, but God also designed natural laws for our bodies to properly operate. God is able and willing to help us despite our faults and wrong-doing; however, we are accountable for the knowledge we have and God wants us to learn to walk in truth. Remember, we are stewards of our physical body, so we should take care of it. Many ailments are due to lifestyle: overeating, over-stressing, lack of exercise, improper diet, etc. God has created many wonderful, nutritious, healing foods that provide our body all it needs to grow and remain healthy, along with water which is another essential. God is our healer and we should look to Him for healing while obtaining Godly wisdom in how to care for this body we call home.
Sample prayer to receive Jesus:
Heavenly Father, I receive your Son Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I believe He died for me and rose again and paid the price for my sin. Forgive me of my sin and help me to walk with you all the days of my life. Because I believe in my heart, and confess Jesus as my Lord, I belong to You now and for eternity. Thank you for saving me and making me Your child. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
